Cookie Policy

The short version

This site sets no tracking cookies. There’s nothing to consent to, so there’s no cookie banner.

That’s not a shortcut or a technicality. It’s because I don’t run analytics, I don’t run advertising, and I haven’t embedded anything that watches what you do. The only cookies here are the ones the site can’t work without — and for an ordinary visitor, that’s none at all.

What a cookie actually is

A small file a site leaves on your device. It can be used to remember something about you — that you’re logged in, or that you put something in a basket. Some cookies are used to follow people around the internet; those are the ones that need your permission first.

Under UK rules (PECR), the cookies that only exist to make a site work are exempt from needing consent. Everything this site sets falls into that category — which is why there’s no banner asking you to click yes.

What this site actually sets

Nothing, on a normal visit. Read a page, follow a link, use a calculator — no cookie is set at all. I checked this in the site’s own code and by watching what the site actually sends back, rather than taking it on trust, because it’s the kind of claim that’s easy to make and easy to be wrong about.

The login cookie (WordPress) — only ever set if you log in, which is me, as the site’s administrator. You’ll never see this one as a visitor.

Hosting / CDN technical handling (Hostinger) — the site runs on Hostinger’s infrastructure, which handles the technical side of serving pages. Covered above as part of running the site.

The fonts (Adobe Fonts) — the typefaces are fetched from Adobe’s font service when a page loads. That’s a request to Adobe, not a cookie, and Adobe’s font serving doesn’t track you.

That’s the complete list. Not a summary — the whole thing.

There used to be a basket cookie here, from the shop this site was originally built around. The shop has gone, and so has the cookie — along with a traffic-attribution script that arrived with it and had no business running on a site that isn’t a shop.

What this site does NOT set

  • No analytics cookies — nothing counting your visit, no Google Analytics
  • No advertising cookies — nothing tracking you for ads, on this site or after
  • No social media pixels — no embedded tracking from any social platform
  • No third-party tracking of any kind — nothing embedded that reports on you

That check is why the attribution script isn’t here any more.

If you buy something from Workshop Finds

The payment happens on Stripe’s own page, not on this one — the buy button takes you there. Any cookies Stripe sets while you pay are Stripe’s, on Stripe’s domain, and covered by Stripe’s own cookie and privacy policies. Nothing from that visit is set on this site.

If you’d still rather not have cookies

You’re free to block or clear them — every browser has settings for it, usually under Privacy or Security. There’s very little to lose on this site: no basket to empty, nothing to sign into, and the pages will read the same.

Anything else

This page only covers cookies. For the wider picture — what I collect, why, and what your rights are — see the Privacy Policy. Questions about either: hello@hawksburytimber.co.uk.
